The Woman in the Woods

The sixteenth instalment in the Charlie Parker series begins with the body of a woman who has just given birth being found in the Maine woods, and no sign of the baby. Parker, at the behest of lawyer Moxie Castin, begins a search for the infant, as does the killer.
